What do I need to apply?

  • Applicants will require a good honours degree from a recognised university, or a degree or degree equivalent qualification, with relevant work experience.

  • Qualifications from an approved professional body, plus appropriate work experience at a suitable level within an organisation for an appropriate length of time will be considered.

  • Applicants may be invited for interview.

  • All international students, for whom English is not their first language must provide evidence of linguistic ability to IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing).

On successful completion of the course a student will be expected to be able to:

  • Apply aspects of the scientific, social, environmental, legal, technical, ethical, economic, health and safety, and political dimensions to management issues in the built environment.

  • Solve organisational, technical, economic and legal problems in the context of management in the built environment.

  • Demonstrate a critical perspective of current practice and future developments.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of a specialised area relating to management and the built environment.

  • Systematically analyse and critically evaluate arguments and procedures used to identify a client’s needs and the means to satisfy them.

  • Identify complex problems, critically analyse, synthesise and apply relevant knowledge and skills to provide an appropriate solution of a professional and ethical nature.

  • Simulate processes, synthesise and forecast possible outcomes.

  • Logically and systematically plan and organise processes and actions.

  • Critically evaluate relevant issues at the forefront of theory and practice.

  • Work as part of a team contributing to defined goals and group dynamics.

  • Demonstrate independent and self-managed personal skills.

  • Communicate efficiently in spoken, written and graphical forms and be able to present complex issues to clients.

  • Develop appropriate learning strategies and study techniques.

  • Demonstrate competency in the use of communications and information technology (CIT).
